- edloessi: $MSTR - given that Microstrategy is somewhat playing the long game on BTC, is there anything they could say in their earnings report that would throw this stock off track? I'm not long on this stock, but I am on $MSTX, primarily my play on BTC, so I don't have to sell any of my BTC holdings.
- kenb: $MSTR David Ryan shared this interesting thought on IBD Live today, and just passing it on. I listened to some interview podcasts and admit what he is saying is way over my head, so have no idea if what he is saying is pure genius or just very risky. My only bitcoin holdings are small positions in $MSTR and $MSTX. Forbes and the "curse of the cover" – is it Saylor's turn now? https://www.publish0x.com/cryptocurrency-world2/forbes-and-the-curse-of-the-cover-is-it-saylors-turn-now-xmjnwqn
- joelsg1: @kenb $MSTR $MSTX @Scottrades joked Saylor on cover was a sign Peak Btc, perhaps not a joke.
- woodman: @joelsg1 $MSTR $MSTX - And here I thought it was my waiter asking that I tip in Bitcoin.
- joelsg1: @woodman $MSTR $MSTX My MBA son actually mined a few bitcoin many years ago but lost them in the Mt. Gox wipeout.
- Mpower27: @kenb $MSTR $MSTX As far as I remember the FTX guy would of been fine if he wasn’t screwing around with client money. I never understood why people thought the WeWork thing made sense. Only Elizabeth Holmes was straight lying about her work. Not what I’d call curses.
- bigbartabs: @woodman @joelsg1 $MSTR $MSTX ... maybe we should chop up some pennies into bits, in a small sack... so when they ask us to tip in bitcoin, we'll be ready.
- woodman: @bigbartabs $MSTR $MSTX - Finally, pennies would have use again.
- edloessi: $MSTX - I took some risk this morning, buying five mins off the open at $39; I figured BTC had tapped its low earlier in the morning. Maybe ride it out again until $105K on BTC?
- Onthemark: @edloessi $MSTX Great move! I added to $MSTY this morning below $26.
- joelsg1: $IBIT $IBIT up, $MSTR down probably because it is redeeming $1B of bonds convertible at $142. Think I prefer long straight $IBIT calls as posted to $MSTX spreads because of such divergence.
- mgoodw: @scottrades $IBIT $MSTR $MSTX are the MS stocks still coupled with BTC?
- scottrades: @mgoodw $IBIT $MSTR $MSTX It varies Day to Day, but YTD $MSTR has outperformed.
- mgoodw: @scottrades $IBIT $MSTR $MSTX Thank you, sir!
- Motorman: @joelsg1 Just saw your $MSTX call spread, took 56-66 Jan 31 for 3.1 Thanks for the idea. Your TSLA 310-350 expired Last Friday for a nice gain. Can I buy you a drink next time I am out west or if you are in NYC ;)
- joelsg1: @Motorman $MSTX Absolutely!
- joelsg1: @Motorman $MSTX Joined you in that $56-66 spread. $3 to make $10 if spread fills. Can't really adjust it because the short options stay aggressively priced until the last day, so prepared to lose it all, but given the risk/reward, and I lever up if we get momo for more than a day or so, only have to hit 1 out of 3 to make money.
- joelsg1: $MSTX My posted strategy worked Friday for triple, so doing it again, 1/31 $58-67 call spreads.
- joelsg1: $MSTX Added atm ladder same size on that call spread strategy, 1-3 risk/reward.
- joelsg1: @joelsg1 $MSTX And also laddered up straight calls in $IBIT, Feb. $61s.
- champ: My account had a Great day and on the close, I'm swinging 20 positions, $SSO $SMH $KMI $PAA $ET $LBRT $SEI $SND $GTLS $BURL $GOOS $OLLI $WING $BLDR $OC $CPA $SOUN $CPA $ARCH $JOBY and I took profits on $UAL, after the close, plus today I took profits on these swing positions because $they turned. Red...ERX $GUSH $LNG $DVN $EQT $PR $WTTR $ELF $MSTX..... ....plus I have a #Buy-Back-List and a stock Watch-list, plus I will also be working off of my News-feed. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
- champ: @wijimmy $IBIT $BITX $MSTR $MSTX #never-seen #Pre-set-up #Crypto-Ball, #Scoop-Dogg #Executive-Order #expected #new-record-high, #Buy-Buy-Buying, #Game-on-is-expected-to-Continue. ......... .....No VIP table for me....because I don't have a Jet to move around in and my wife said, it was just to cold outside in DC. ....So I decide that it would be just as much fun to watch......Smokey and the Bandit again and count all of my MeMe coins instead.
- champ: @scottrades $IBIT $BITX $MSTR $MSTX....I #never-seen a better #Pre-set-up than this ever before, especially after they had that huge #Crypto-Ball, that they had on Friday night, it was Sold-out, with 1500 people attending, that paid $2,500 each and all the VIP tickets were sold at $100,000 each and most all of the Who's Who in the Bitcoin world were there, having cocktails with #Scoop-Dogg ......... ....because a positive #Executive-Order on Bitcoin, from President Trump, is #expected to be signed on Monday............ ....and my guess is, we will or should see the largest ever Bitcoin move on Tuesday, that should set a #new-record-high, that should start on Monday, after the signing. ........A lot of #Buy-Buy-Buying, is expected.......... Good luck on your second Million-$$$$ move and I'm in this Happy-Game with you, Risk-on and this #Game-on-is-expected-to-Continue. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
- wijimmy: @champ $IBIT $BITX $MSTR $MSTX #never-seen #Pre-set-up #Crypto-Ball, #Scoop-Dogg #Executive-Order #expected #new-record-high, #Buy-Buy-Buying, #Game-on-is-expected-to-Continue. ... ... @CHAMP, @SCOTTRADES ... SO, where is the PICTURE of your VIP Table ??? hit the paper clip... select file to post it...

Note: We've already got $MSTX on the list at 46.90 (currently up$6.56 [14%]. $MSTX is trying to climb out of a deep hole that was dug back in late November and into the end of the year after the ETF dropped 84% from top to bottom. Fun. But if $BT ... - joelsg1: $MSTX After mixed results with wide call spreads, I've refined my strategy to st narrow spreads, e.g. Jan. $57-60 spreads lots of them avg. cost $1 filled for now and expiring today. Ladder up every 1-2 weeks, so now 1/31 hope they fill and let them expire, rinse and repeat while in upswing. Relatively low cost depending on size, decent risk/reward, not a widow maker.
- joelsg1: @joelsg1 $MSTX And if the spread closes midway, exercise the long (the short leg expires worthless) and then sell upside 1 week calls against. Of course, every time I develop a strategy for this one, things change and one must adapt.

$MSTX -- This volatile ETF is really more of an income generator for me, selling weekly OTM calls against the stock. The premiums can amount to more than 5% of the share price each week. I'll be starting a series of option trades on OMM after my s ... - champ: @scottrades ....$MSTX....I'm waiting for the Next #U-turn.
- joelsg1: @woodman $IBIT Bought a slug of Feb. $56 calls at close Friday. Thought better of too-expensive $MSTR and $MSTX options.
- champ: @scottrades...$MSTX....sure looks like it wants to make more #Millionaires........
- bigbartabs: $MSTX back above the 8dema after filling the gap. And now 3 strong daily volume bars.
- scottrades: @champ $MSTX #Millionaires........ Let's go!!
- joelsg1: $MSTX Added Jan. $57-60 call spreads. I like the risk/reward.
- champ: @scottrades $MSTX #Millionaires........OK, I'm in with a swing from Friday and I'm going to try to hold #both a Core and also Trading-positions ......and I know how to dance, if needed, however I would like to just hold both and not do any splits, if you know what I mean.....? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
- Kjksm1: $MSTX. Could someone please explain to me why the 40 calls expiring today are trading at $12 while the puts are trading at $1? Thanks in advance
- phgruver: @Kjksm1 $MSTX For some reason, the market makers are expecting $MSTX to rise $12 today. That does look odd, but the market makers are usually right....
- Kjksm1: @phgruver $MSTX Then wouldn’t the puts trade in sync? Thanks
- phgruver: @Kjksm1 $MSTX Not if they are expecting it to go up. The official expected spread is plus or minus $2.40, but the actual pricing is near a 100% probability that it will go higher. As I watch, though, those probabilities are changing, but are still near 100% that the price will exceed $52 by the end of the day. As I have no insight as to what they are looking at, I wouldn't touch it.
- Wino43: @Kjksm1 $MSTX Went ex dividend $14.43 on 12/31, and it's payable today.
- Kjksm1: @Wino43 $MSTX ok that makes more sense. Thanks
- Dsqrd: @Henry $MSTX Per the Option Clearing Corp: Defiance Daily Target 2x Long MSTR ETF (MSTX) has announced a short-term capital gains distribution of $14.42760884 per MSTX share. The record date is December 31, 2024; payable date is January 3, 2025. The ex-distribution date for this distribution will be December 31, 2024. Deliverable Per Contract: 1) 100 Defiance Daily Target 2x Long MSTR ETF (MSTX) Shares 2) $1,442.76 Cash ($14.42760884 x 100)
- crank: @Dsqrd $MSTX This 2X instrument is smoke and mirrors. The market makers change pricing to enable house to win while retail loses. Same old story.
- wpsimril: @Dsqrd $MSTX Correct, it was $MSTX- It was delivered to my account. Thanks - I would have missed it!
- Henry: @Wino43 $MSTX MSTR I was totally wrong about this, my apologies.
- StockMarketMentor: Adding 2x Long MSTR ETF ($MSTX) to the ATI List. Basis: 46.90 Suggested stop: ~34.08 After a life-sucking selloff in Microstrategy (and hence, MSTX), it's looking like a bottom is in. This is a massively volatile issue, so you need to understand what your risk is. My suggested stop is below Tuesday's intraday low. That is nearly 30% below the current range. You may choose to use a loose stop with a small position, or a tighter stop if you like a bigger trade. Your choice. As an alternative, you can consider MicroStrategy ($MSTR), which is much less volatile and has an identical chart. --Dan
- FredsFreedom: $MSTX Nice push off with reinvested dividend today.
- kingtug13: $TQQQ $NVDA $RL $MSTX - Run bulls run!
- Henry: $MSTX You will be confused by the price action in pre-market. It had a $14 dividend that went ex today
- Henry: edit I meant $MSTX not $MSTR so both are up in pm, even though MSTX is way lower than last night's close
- Obsxllc: @Henry $MSTX the ex-dividend payment is $14.427 payable 1/3/25
- Henry: @woodman Edit, I meant $MSTX could drop another 50% These special trusts for MSTR $NVDA and $TSLA betting long or short are signs of markets at their top. TIn the works are BTC bond etfs, and BTC Treasury company etfs.
- Cjauger: $IBIT, $MSTR, $MSTX at HOD. Tying some $MSTX
- Cjauger: $MSTX breaking out.
- traderbren: $MSTX - pushing above the 50d
- oldtimer: $MSTX has lost the 50 DMA
- woodman: @oldtimer $MSTX - My rule of thumb is to look at the moving averages of the underlying/base stock/ETF when evaluating the moves in leveraged instruments (2x and 3x items), in this case $MSTR.
- bigbartabs: $MSTR $MSTX ... could be at support
- Bert953: @bigbartabs $MSTR $MSTX been a widow maker since Nov 21more red than green, but what's worst is that there've been 5 gap and craps with red volume bars being larger than green. the technical indicators are all diving too.
- bigbartabs: @Bert953 $MSTR $MSTX ... still looking like it could be a bottom, after falling down from 126. I'll be gone if it falls below 91.55
- Bert953: @bigbartabs $MSTR $MSTX Sorry to say I called the bottom, stopped out at $87, but now its back up at $92. Held a single share to keep it on radar, but its really gotta convince me that its worthy of my $.
- djgustoso: $MSTR $MSTX feeling very frustrated with this employee :( btc keeps making new highs and this keeps lagging behind. Hate to admit it but the long btc and short mstr trade has been working and I've been on the wrong side of it. Feeling really dejected about my trading on it :( especially when I could have been deploying that money in $META or $TSLA

- djgustoso: $MSTX $MSTR yucky reversal right now though 🫠
- bigbartabs: @Cjauger $MSTX $MSTR ... shorts sweating? Not that I've noticed yet. Are yours?

- jnors12: @StockMarketMentor Hey @Dan, First, Safe travels, and may your son have a long and fruitful marriage! I do have a question. By my count, we have six positions on the ATL that are related to Bitcoin. ($BITX $MSTR $MSTX $CORZ $IBIT & $COIN) With that many options, as a member, how should I act? Are some more or less risky? It just made me think, I don't know which ones are best for me and I won't try to get in on every ATL stock. Thanks for everything you do. I am very happy with the services!
- billyzeke: @woodman $MSTR that one and $COIN drive me bonkers. No position in COIN currently but I did buy a very small amount of $MSTX last Thursday near the low of the day so I feel like I can handle some volatiity for now. Maybe it will eventually hold a gain for at least a day or two....

- Cjauger: @Hawaiianmaxx $MSTX $MSTR $HOOD Sorry did not see it, have been hedging the weeklies just to offset volatility. Today all the puts and calls expired worthless, love collecting premium. Also keeping some stock without selling calls against it, because this ticker has tha potential to go
- Cjauger: @Hawaiianmaxx $MSTX $MSTR $HOOD no news yet
- woodman: @Cjauger $MSTX $MSTR $HOOD - Heinz Kethup. Anticipation is making us wait.
- billyzeke: @woodman $MSTX $MSTR $HOOD When do they usually make these announcements? I own both, hopefully at least one will make the cut.
- woodman: @billyzeke $MSTX $MSTR $HOOD - I posted above, but it looks like 8pm. https://www.yahoo.com/news/m/25895a72-296e-33de-97e1-0d97f5126a3c/palantir-microstrategy-could.html
- joelsg1: $MSTX Interesting article in WS Journal yesterday entitled "Big Bet on Microstrategy Hits Roadblock" about difficulties 2x leveraged ETFs $MSTU and $MSTX are having obtaining the complex swaps needed to meet their prospectus goal of daily 2x $MSTR. Now, these funds are turning to the options market which is even riskier. No doubt explains how these ETFs often do not track 2x MSTR. Former founder of defunct LTCM is quoted as putting the probability of these funds going bust in next year at between 20%-50%. Forewarned.
- Cjauger: $MSTX Sold some $80 puts expiring next week for $5.30.. Also sold some covered $106 calls for $4.25 expiring tomorrow
- bigbartabs: @joelsg1 $MSTX $MSTU $MSTR ... hopefully these ticker managers will look at how the 3x ETFs for UDOW SPXL TQQQ TNA are leveraged. Over time they have become more and more accurate at keeping their 3x ETFs relative to DJI SPX NDX RUT.
- Cjauger: @bigbartabs $MSTX $MSTU $MSTR $MSTX trade it don’t own it
- bigbartabs: @Cjauger $MSTX ... I've owned it over night many times since the beginning of November. Only own it when green candles, above the 8dema, using % stops. Back in this morning.
- joelsg1: @bigbartabs $MSTX $MSTU $MSTR The problem here would seem to be insolvable, the absence of financial entities willing to write the swaps needed to track the underlying. Using the options market instead is not a sustainable solution. For us here, better to create our own leverage using options on $IBIT than $MSTX.
- traderbren: $MSTX - a rocket fuel trade that is poised to move now that it's clearing the 20d and will get juiced as BTC moves higher.
- woodman: @traderbren $MSTX $MSTR $IBIT - I added to $MSTR this morning as part of my buying of this (and $IBIT) over the last ~2 weeks.
- djgustoso: $MSTR $MSTX nice follow through day to reclaim the 8 day ema after printing a hammer yesterday (or dragonfly depending on how hard you squint). Hopefully btc continues above the 100k level and we get some positive momentum back
- Cjauger: Took profits on $AMZN, $QLD, $FNGU. Out of $CRWD. Holding only 3 positions $AAPL and $META (added to both today) and started small $MSTX with a stop at LOD.
- bigbartabs: $MSTX ... needs a good mechanic. Stuck in neutral
- woodman: @bigbartabs $MSTX and $MSTR - good consolidation within uptrend along the 20d area. Hopefully patience will prevail. Just hoping it doesn't fall through. I have a position in MSTR.
- Hawaiianmaxx: @bigbartabs $MSTX I'm perfectly fine with this sideways action (or lack of). ME NEEDS a breather to catch up 😮💨 BTW STO $MSTR and $MSTX ratio Puts for next week...cheeeeeeeee 🤙🏽 mahalo @DrScience
- bill52: @djgustoso $MSTR $MSTX $IBIT I look at www.finviz.com. If you pull up a chart, there is a grid of info below it including "Short Float" percentage. MSTR showing about 14 percent. some of the other miners have even a bit higher like $MARA (19 percent) and $WULF (21 percent). If these are fairly accurate, then could add some extra jet fuel on the fire if BTC holds over the century mark and additional folks start feeling fomo. I'm not exactly sure how up to date these numbers are in Finviz, so if someone has a more reliable short interest website, please advise.
- geotheo: @Henry $MSTR $MSTX $IBIT How do you read such a chart?
- phgruver: @bill52 $MSTR $MSTX $IBIT $MARA $WULF You need to compare the short % with the days to cover. It is the "days to cover " that tells you how explosive the short squeeze could be. In a highly liquid stock, a high short % doesn't mean as much.
